I noticed every time the price of oil rises, the agriculture stocks tend to go up in share price also. Does anyone know is this is the case, and if so, why?

My buddy worked for a company for 4 years. He didn’t pay taxes for all 4 years and made $40000 every year. The company he worked for messed up his w2 and never took it off exempt after many attempts of trying to change it (have no way to prove this). So finally he quit. Now he is going to school with no job but he needs to take care of this problem. He has seen all the commercials on tax lawyers that can reduce the debt but can’t afford it. What is a good way to start to take care of his problem, so he can move on from this?

This is only hypothetical question but I was curious as to how much you have to pay taxes if you won $1 million from sweepstakes?
If it is, let say 40% of winning goes to taxes then can I donate of that percentage to charity and don’t pay taxes?

I was looking to start investing sooner rather than later and I just would like to get some feedback in what I should invest in and what not to invest in. Also, being a teenager in college, I am on a limited budget.

I am 24 college graduate and I just started my first “adult job” where I make 35K per year. I would like to begin saving/investing a part of my paycheck (approximately $400 per month). What do I do first? What sort of accounts (savings, mutual funds, etc. ) should I begin looking into?
*that should say “24-year old”

I’m curious as to what age most people start investing at and how old they currently are now. So how old were you when you first started investing and how old are you now?
