Ways to make money without investing in the stock market?

I invested in the stock market and made a little money. I own MSFT, GSI and AERG stocks. I am thinking of selling all of my MSFT shares when it goes up to $24 a share and sell GSI when it goes up to $7 a share. What is your opinion on this? What is your experience in investing in stocks? Etc?

  1. My experience is don’t be greedy when you’ve a profit.

  2. I am wondering what your plan was when you invested the money. If you didn’t have a concrete plan of this is where I plan to enter and these are the plans I have for an exit (both for a profit and to take a loss), then you will just be guessing on where to get out. How did you decide $24 on MSFT or $7 for GSI? If you are pulling the numbers out of thin air (looking at a chart I believe I know where you got them so I don’t think this is the case), then you are treating investing like gambling. The other thing we don’t know which would make it near impossible to give any direction is your timeframe for trading these stocks. Are you a long term investor, do you like to swing trade, etc. Obviously a day trader is going to have different thoughts than a long term buy and hold guy. GSI is now trading about $3. 75. To get to $7 would be almost double where it is now. I am sure everybody would like to get double their money on trades – but it is unreasonable to assume you could do this every time. Trading in the stock market is the best business I could hope for. I love the freedom it gives me with no boss, no customers, clients, suppliers, employees, inventory, etc. It can provide a great income for people who do it right.
